The Devon County Council elections will be held on Thursday 1 May 2025.
All 60 council seats are up for election across 58 electoral divisions; Broadclyst and Exmouth divisions each elect two councillors, while all other divisions elect one councillor each.
The election will determine the representatives responsible for decisions about local services and infrastructure for the next four years
Every Vote Counts
The Conservatives have controlled Devon County Council since 2009, holding 38 seats just before the election was called. The Liberal Democrats, Labour, Greens, and a handful of Independents make up the rest of the council.
If the Conservatives lose just 8 seats, they will lose control of the council so every vote counts.
Who’s Standing?
This year’s election sees a record number of candidates: 327 people are standing across the 60 divisions. Every major political party is fielding a full slate of candidates but a healthy number of candidates from smaller parties and independents are standing as well.
- Conservatives: 60 candidates
- Liberal Democrats: 60 candidates
- Labour: 60 candidates
- Reform UK: 60 candidates

- Independents: 19 candidates
