Canva
When I was elected to Honiton Town Council (“HTC”), the council was spending a small fortune on an outside graphic design agency to design poster and flyers.
We suspected that the design agency was using Canva to produce these kind of documents and that it would save a load of money if the Council signed up for its own Canva account.
The local business of which I am a director provided council staff with free training on how to get started using Canva and they’ve never looked back.
Canva for Teams costs HTC a mere £255.90 per year, a fraction of what they paying for design services before.
So next time you walk past a beautifully designed Honiton Town Council poster and wonder how much money has been wasted producing it the answer is not a lot. It’s likely to be a standard Canva template with a few tweaks!
Independent Thinking
This is one of the many innovative ways I have tried to reduce council expenditure to help reduce the tax bill for Honiton residents.
Of course, as fast as I try to save money someone else is voting to spend the money elsewhere.
