Vote Jo

Jo Fotheringham, your local independent candidate for Honiton St Michael's

Vote Jo Postcard

We’ve been out and about over the last few days delivering the new Vote Jo postcard.

Do you like our scenes from Honiton? In case you are wondering, the photos are:

  • top left – a quiet summer Sunday on Honiton High Street
  • top right – Hot Pennies 2026 at The Three Tuns
  • bottom left – the new Skater Girl mural at the skate park on Allhallows Field
  • bottom right – walking down New Street after the Christmas carnival in December 2025

I love the new Skater Girl mural. It was painted by Stephen Quick – a pop & street artist who was born and brought up in Honiton. He is now based in Bristol but came back last month to paint the new mural for Charter Day. He also painted the blue mural outside Honiton Library – it’s one of his early works.

There aren’t many words on the back of postcard – just a message to say that I’m the local independent candidate who lives and works in Honiton and will represent Honiton’s interests.

So what are the advantages of having an independent councillor?

  • I’m not a member of a political party, so I can genuinely represent Honiton’s residents.
  • I’m not interested in party political point scoring – its not about rubbishing other parties, its about doing what’s best for Honiton
  • There are currently 22 independent councillors on EDDC, which means that independent councillors can work together as a group on issues which affect their areas

This by-election won’t change the controlling group on the council, which is currently an alliance of Lib Dems and some of the independents.

What you can do, is make sure you elect someone local who will speak up for Honiton’s interests.
